Description
Two young herons stand nearly touching, both faced the same direction with necks drawn tall, their buff-streaked throats lit warm by the setting sun while a third bird buries its head in its feathers in the upper corner, staying out of it. The canola field lies gold and soft behind the cottonwood limbs. Whatever these two are watching, they are watching it together, and the one preening behind them clearly does not care to know.
