Description
Framed by dark cottonwood leaves on either side, two herons share a slender branch above the pale gold of the field beyond, one drawn up to full height, the other rounded and settled. The evening haze turns the whole background rose-gold, so the birds read almost as silhouettes cut from slate. They stand close, in the manner of two who have long since run out of things to argue about. A serene, softly colored frame made for a quiet wall.
