Wings Over the Home Tree

Description

The showpiece of the evening: a heron spreads its full wingspan directly beneath the drone, every flight feather fanned dark against the sunlit cottonwood leaves as it maneuvers toward the nest at right, where a hunkered bird waits in the circle of white twigs. Down in the lower left a third heron tips steeply forward, tail up, as if deciding whether to follow. The top-down view turns the rookery into a stage seen from the rafters. A dramatic, graphic print unlike anything shot from the ground.
