Description
Framed in a window of cottonwood branches, a heron stands sentry at the nest with its head turned in sharp profile, the drill lines of the ripening canola field running clear to the pale horizon behind it. A darker companion shelters close at its shoulder, and away at the right edge a third bird lingers half-hidden in the leaves, keeping tabs without being seen to. The great sweep of gold gives the print its air; the small politics of the tree give it its story.
