Description
One young heron stretches to its full height on the nest rim, neck drawn straight as a fence post, while the canola field rolls away gold and unbroken behind the cottonwood. To its left a darker sibling hunches low in the leaves, and to the right a third bird has turned its back entirely, as if the conversation had gone somewhere it didn’t care for. The pale sticks of the nest catch the evening light like weathered barnwood, grounding this quiet study of a household not quite in agreement.
