Description
Two herons stand tall on separate white cottonwood limbs, both faced the same direction, both studying something out past the ripening canola that climbs the hill behind them. The evening sun lays warm on the field and picks out the smoke-blue of their folded wings. Whatever is coming up that draw, these two intend to see it first, and neither is saying a word to the other. A composed, painterly frame from the last light of a July day.
