Description
The heron on the left has its bill parted mid-remark, while its companion turns pointedly away, chin lifted, as if the comment did not deserve an answer. The two stand on slender cottonwood branches with the canola field just showing through the crown above them. Every small-town evening has a conversation like this one, and here it is caught at treetop height in July light. The pale limbs and layered leaves give the print a fine, tapestry-like depth.
