Description
From straight overhead, one heron pauses mid-branch with wings loosely mantled, caught between perches on its way home, while the nest waits below right with a single bird bent over its rim. In the upper left a third neighbor sits hunched and unmoved, having seen this particular entrance before. The evening sun turns the canopy to lit green velvet and bleaches the nest to a bright spiral at the corner of the frame. A candid moment of comings and goings in the colony’s last hour of light.
